The stories and the colorful characters delighted the little people from two of our feeder schools: from a clown who had lost his smile, a little boy who ate too many lollies, to Peter Pan trying to save other well-known characters from the clutches of bad. The little children were totally enthralled and entertained by the plays, and it is a credit to our year 10 performers that they not only devised and created their own productions, but employed the elements of the genre of children’s theatre effectively and appropriately to capture the attention of the young; AND made the props and (in a few instances) designed and made their own costumes especially for their group’s play.
The Year 10 Drama girls were very proud of their efforts, and their teacher was very proud of them! They ‘raised the bar’ and met the challenge of using the appropriate elements of drama and effectively used dramatic languages to appeal to the children they had in their invited audience. The Year Ones enjoyed their performances, really “GOT” the messages behind the plays, and most of all, had FUN!!

Once upon a time in the land of MMC, there was a group of grade 10 drama students. In this tale there was no wicked witch to be scared of, no big bad wolf to scream at or even an evil giant to run away from. Just one nice good fairy to grant all their wishes to bring out their best performances. But she didn't have to do much wand twirling this time. The drama students did it all their own. They found their weird and wonderful feet and stood on their own. The standard of each production was exceptionally high. I really felt their emotions when the little grade ones got into the stories and got involved. Their little beepers didn't move off the stage. Even when the lights went out their minds were still ticking.They didn't miss a beat if something or someone had gone from the stage. The Drama students were amazing in acting out all their character roles. The beautiful costumes and perfect props showed just how much they cared about giving their best to a wonderful audience. You could tell the special little guests enjoyed it so much by their beaming smiles and endless giggles. Once again a REAL HAPPY ENDING!!
This was an amazing experience, traveling back in time to reconnect with our 6-7 year old selfs to find the perfect way to present our performances to the children, the kids were also very interactive whenever you had to ask them a question they would have an answer for you as quick as lighting. A congrats goes to my fellow class mates for doing an amazing job. Every single performance were every entertaining even for us and the teachers. I did hear them laughing (After watching 1 and 1/2 during school today). Well Done Girls.
P.S I forgot to say thanks for the entertainment. It was not only magic for the little kids but the big kids too. So glad the clown got his smile back because he would have felt right out of it with all of us showing our pearlies.
Childrens theater was such an amazing and exciting experience. Being able to perform in front of children was very exciting because it was more of a challenge and you didnt know what to expect from them, but they all behaved very well and surprisingly responded to the interactions we made with them. I loved being able to go over the top and use our imagination to the extreme. Everybody had amazing costuming, props and performed really well.
I honestly think that Children's Theater was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. To perform in front of a group of children is such a different experience to just normally doing it in front of my class peers. The children were really unexpectedly interactive with our play. They really seemed to enjoy it a lot and we really enjoyed doing it also.
Acting in children's theater type characters is also really different because instead of using realism, which we were kind of doing last year, we had to be over the top, colourful, characters. It wasn't as though you could take some emotions from somewhere else and use it to be realistic. You had to be somebody completely different.
The group really had to look back on themselves as children and think of what their six year old selves would have enjoyed or found stupid. All the way from propping to scripting and to character voices, posture and structure.
It really was a great experience and I reckon I would consider taking a career in children's theater because it really was wonderful. Thank you so much Miss Fletcher for giving us this amazing experience.
This was an amazing chapter in year 10 drama. Although I didn’t get to perform on the day, peeking through the gaps in the overly posterise door and watching the other groups catch up on lines to calm their nerves before picking up their skirts –and aprons- and braving their first performance in front of little people they knew nothing about, just proved how much effort our class went to. I congratulate everyone and can’t wait to see how the class responds to the next criteria.
Children's theatre was an amazing experience and so much fun, even though some unexpected accidents occurred on this Friday the 13th the show went on and everyone had an incredibly impressive display and performance which not only the children enjoyed but the teachers (adults) as well. It was a frightening and nerve racking, but fantastic experience to preform in front of a live audience. I enjoyed our children's theatre prediction and would love to do it again sometime. The costumes where appealing, bright, colourful and highly appropriate for the characters that each person played, and the structure of the overall performance was just amazing, showing our ability .of what we can do if we work hard.
well done to all my fellow class mates, you all created a intriguing and exciting performance with left you wanting more of the story and wishing it didn't just finish where it did.
Huge thank you to Miss Fletcher for encouraging us and allowing this to happen.

Childrens theatre is a wonderful and exciting experience. Dressing up as some childhood favourites was just outstanding and the costumes were FANTASTIC!! Having the children interact was sooo excellent and seeing their faces with just awe makes you want to be young again so you can watch. Loved every minute of it :D
The performances were really great and entertaining and the children loved them too! I had a great time being the well known doll to all the girls. It's really different to perform infrount of children than adults, but i had a lot of fun!
Children's Theatre was an amazing experience!! Being in that environment made me feel like a child again. It was so fun and dramatic!
