The Seed is a new Australian play written by Kate Mulvany. The story is based on her own experiences. The Seed takes place in Nottingham, England in the 1990s.
The Seed contains some references to infertility. We strongly recommend you discuss with your students how inappropriate responses might impact on the actors and other audience members. Our Teacher's Notes outline some activities which may help introduce your students to the ideas of the play.
The Seed contains strong language and some drug references.
It is important that students are fully briefed about appropriate theatre etiquette before seeing the production. Please remind students that this is a live performance and that the actors are able to see and hear them in the audience.
There are 3 actors in the play, each actor plays the same character throughout the show. The playwright, Kate Mulvany, is an actor in the play.
The play runs for approx 2 hours 15 minutes (including one interval)
After each school matinee performance there is a Question and Answer session with the director and cast. The Teacher's Notes contain some activities you can do with your students to prepare them for the Q & A session in order to make the most of the opportunity.
