Theatre in Residence Week

Qld Theatre Company's "Theatre in Residence Week" was held recently.
Two of our Year 10 students participated in the course and immensely enjoyed their immersion in drama and theatre.

On the first week of holidays, I went on the QLD Theatre Company TRW. It was a week filled with daggy dance offs, theatre and of course, drama. We were each given a core group of which mine was On Screen. It was heaps of fun as we were able to produce a script, work on and off screen in the midst of a week!
We were also given 3 workshops. Mine were Clowning, Audition Techniques and Comic Characters. I learnt heaps of acting techniques as well as the fact I'm not sure I'm fit to be a clown.
Thanks to TRW my ability has become better as well as helping me find out if I want to be a part of this business. I also got to hang out with others who also enjoyed drama and professionals who would be able to guide me.
It was a great experience and would love to do it again.

Although rebecca has explained most of TRW, i must add a few other components to the list, first being GREAT food =], i have to admit, in TRW while focusing on your core groups (mine being Physical Theatre with the wonderful Veronica Neave)and getting up at ungodly hours of the morning, you also get a chance to meet people and discuss in depth the many different ways to get into theatre, all the while making some fantastic freinds.
I must say i am doing it again, and would recommend anyone seriously interested in drama to look into, as it is a fantastic and eye-opening experience.
